IKEA Skadis

IKEA Skadis (in Dutch) is a pegboard system for customizable wall storage of all kinds of items. You can find several 3D models for Skadis accessories on your favourite 3D printing websites:

T-Nuts

Most models use printed hooks; I prefer models that use T-nuts instead of printed hooks.

With T-nuts, mounting is more robust; printing is easier since you don’t need to worry about the orientation of your prints (the direction of layer lines severely influence the strength of the resulting print).

If you search for “skadis t-nut” you will find several models already optimized for use with T-nuts.

“Interference” threading

With “interference” threading you won’t have to use heat inserts, or print the threads using a very small layer height. Screws will cut their own threads, displacing plastic as needed without causing stress cracks.

This is all explained in this video on Thomas Sanladerer’s “Made with Layers” YouTube channel.

I’ve printed the T-nuts in Prusament PLA, adding a brim to ensure that the prints stick to the build plate - on my first attempt, some prints detached during printing.
